ST公司的IPS4260L是单片高速(FSW = 100 kHz)器件,能驱动四路独立的容性,电阻或电感负载,工作电压8V-50V,具有单独的保护,VCC欠压锁住,高速工作(tr, tf《 1 μs),可由外接电阻编程负载电流限流水平,典型负载电流:0.5A(每路)/2A(一路),设计满足IEC 61131-2要求,主要用在可编程逻辑控制(PLC),工业PC外设输入/输出,数字控制机和通用低边开关应用。本文介绍了IPS4260L主要特性,框图和应用电路,以及评估板STEVAL-IFP029V1主要特性,电路图,材料清单和PCB设计图。

The IPS4260L is a monolithic high speed (FSW = 100 kHz) device, which can drive four independent capacitive, resistive or inductive loads with one side connected to supply voltage.

Four integrated inductive catch diodes clamp the turn-off transients generated by inductive loads combined with proper external TVS allowing fast decay even with huge inductance. Each channel is protected by the overload protection limiting the output current in case of overload. The IC allows the overload current limitation level (ICOLIM) to be set by an external resistor on ILIM pin.

Built-in thermal shutdown protects the chip against overtemperature even in case of short-circuit. If enabled, the integrated cut-off protection features a non-dissipative protection in case of overload; it limits both the output average current value and, consequently, the device overheating. Cut-off delay/restart can be programmed by external resistors on CoD pin; it can be disabled by shorting CoD to GND.

Two common diagnostic open drains pins (OL, for open load and FLT for overload and thermal shutdown) together with the four open drain on each INx pin (overload and thermal shutdown) feature an extensive diagnostic of the chip.

评估板STEVAL-IFP029V1

Quad low side driver demonstration board based on IPS4260L The STEVAL-IFP029V1 is an evaluation board designed to analyze the functions of the IPS4260L fastquad low-side intelligent power switch. The application board has been designed to meet the industrialstandard requirements concerning:

1. Galvanic isolation between logic and power stages.

High speed dual channel optocouplers have been used both for signals forwarded to the deviceand for feedback signals.

2. Reverse polarity protection.

VCC (power stage) supply voltage is protected versus reverse polarity by D1.

Reverse polarity protection is implemented for the logic stage supply voltage (VDD) by D8.

3. EMC requirements (surge, burst and ESD)。

On board TVS devices on VCC, VZ and VDD (U8, U2 and U9, respectively) clamp overvoltage forsurge test. The STEVAL-IFP029V1 meets IEC61000-4-2, IEC61000-4-4 and IEC61000-4-5industrial standards.

This dual layer design meets the thermal requirements of the application: dedicated copperareas reduce Zth and then enhance the thermal dissipation response when the device isused in switching mode. The integrated channel-independent thermal protection of theIPS4260L is reported to the user by turning on the red LED D3. The R17, R18, R19 andR20 resistors activate the open load detection feature integrated in the IPS4260L: the redLED D2 is turned on if one, or more, of the four outputs are left open. The board mountsfour green LEDs (D4, D5, D6 and D7), one for each of the four output stages: each greenLED turns on once the correspondent channel is activated. Some features can be modifiedby few changes in the application components. For example the default current limitationthreshold can be modified through R23, while the cut-off duration time (default = 2 ms) canbe modified through R4 (refer to the IPS4260L datasheet for the selection of R4 and R23)。

The IPS4260L can be driven by a user friendly (STSW-IFP029GUI available on ) by connecting the STEVAL-IFP029V1 through the STEVAL-PCC009V2 to a Win OS laptop/PC.
