PowerTool™ is a Windows 98, Windows ME,
Windows 2000, Windows XP compatible software
package that supports the rapid development and
production of rechargeable battery systems based on
Microchip’s PS40X or PS33X battery management IC
and module products. PowerTool simplifies the design
process by providing a high-level, menu-driven
environment that allows the designer to quickly and
easily develop, calibrate and test Microchip-based
smart battery systems.
PowerTool Software interfaces to the battery system
through the PowerInfo interface board and PowerCal
calibration board. Dual modes of operation offer a userfriendly
environment for design and debug
(engineering mode) as well as for production
(manufacturing mode).
During development, configuration wizards guide first
time designers step by step allowing quick setup of
PS401 controlled packs to meet the specific needs of
the application and battery chemistry. Smart Battery
veterans will appreciate the enhanced, interactive
programming screens that allow individual parameters
to be edited without lengthy reprogramming and
calibration. Entry of pack parameters is performed
using battery cell specified units such as volts (V),
millivolts (mV), milliamperes (mA) and milliamperehours
(mAh).
